Corporate overview
Company
Founded in 1996 Immediacy released a precursor to its current
content management system in that same year. Ahead of its time, it
used an Internet Explorer browser (then at version 3), extensive
client side scripting and embedded ActiveX controls to produce a
sophisticated browser based web page creation wizard. It also
provided sample templates and integrated uploading to a remote
server.
Version 1 of a broader content management system was released in
1997, with local authorities as the first customers. Typically even
in 1997 local government sites ran to hundreds of pages with a
requirement for twenty or thirty editors and authors across a
number of departments.
Now at version 6 the system provides industry
strength scalable content management across the enterprise. Our
ASP.NET solutions utilise an XML based content storage system,
powerful WYSIWYG content editor, drag and drop document importing,
comprehensive administrative control, and the facility for
developers to write plug-ins to enhance both editing and server
functionality.
Organisations who
have Immediacy Content Management Systems include the BBC,
JPMorganChase, Avis, Principality Building Society, British
Transport Police, The British Council, National Express, The Hilton
Group, phones 4U, Equal Opportunities Commission, Amicus Trade

Market
The Web is becoming an increasingly critical communication tool
for organisations. The advent of broadband has increased pressure
on organisations to use the Web as a communications tool to reach
their key audiences on a daily basis.
Value
Immediacy focuses on designing solutions that reach three core
propositions:
Inclusive – Accessibility is key to creating
a shared responsibility and environment for keeping Web content
up-to-date
Open Architecture – As compliance and
regulatory requirements increase and technology changes rapidly
Immediacy recognises the need to offer truly open, interoperable
and integrated solutions
Live Sites – Websites need to be dynamic,
constantly evolving entities that communicate on a daily basis with
customers and partners. Immediacy believes that simple, easy CMS is
the way to do this.
Products
Immediacy’s .NET CMS offers a range of features specifically
designed to make web content creation and management easy for
non-technical users, so that those within an organisation best
qualified to create specific content can be delegated to in order
to create, publish and update this richer, more informative
content. Key features include:
Drag & Drop importing: allows users to drag
and drop Word documents and Excel charts and spreadsheets onto the
website.
Built-in table editor: allows user friendly
and intuitive creation and editing of web-based tables.
Page versioning: Whenever a page is approved,
the previous version of the page is archived along with a version
number. Site administrators can view the list of archived pages,
review the actual content and restore any version they
choose.
Role & user-based security: The ability
to password protect any part of the site is a standard feature in
Immediacy. Password protecting a page or section is as simple as
ticking a box. Built-in membership administration allows for an
unlimited number of members with unique IDs.
Content scheduling: Content can be scheduled
to be uploaded to a live site at a date and time of the user’s
choosing.
Automatic email notification: When content
approaches expiry the system automatically notifies the author and
