Alterian launches multi-lingual GUI Web Content
Management tool
Immediacy Web Content Management suite (WCMs) 6.1 allows
firms to localise content creation and management in any
language.
Bristol, UK - 30 September 2008 –
Alterian (LSE: ALN), the leading international integrated marketing
platform provider, has today announced the availability of its
latest Web Content Management (WCM) product, Immediacy WCMs
6.1. It is the latest version of the Immediacy product line
that has been deployed in more than 350 organisations across the
globe, including Avis, The BBC, Sage and Virgin Media.
Organisations have long been able to create multi-lingual
websites in Immediacy CMS. Release 6.1 features Language Pack
capabilities enabling Immediacy CMS Editors to work in their local
language preference. Release 6.1 also utilises many of the latest
web technology standards including AJAX and has increased
performance to blistering levels.
Immediacy WCMs 6.1 has a new localised editor interface that far
increases ease of use for organisations in non-English speaking
countries. Core plug-ins can now produce output in any chosen
language, out-of-the-box, which makes it much more straightforward
to produce websites in different languages. Multinational
organisations can also take advantage of a range of language and
location specific elements that enable multilingual versions of a
website to be used concurrently in multiple locations.
On 9th July 2008, Alterian announced that it had completed the
acquisition of Web Content Management software company
Mediasurface, allowing it to offer multi-channel marketing
analytics with real-time execution and dynamic content that helps
marketers improve customer experience and profitability. Both
the Immediacy and Morello WCM product lines were
part of the acquisition.
Immediacy WCMs 6.1 is the first product update to be released
since then, and takes into account direct feedback from users of
previous versions of Immediacy. It comes with more than 50
customer-requested product enhancements, including a powerful new
search feature and a faster spell checker. In addition, the media
plug-in comes with enhanced security and consistency with the
editor application and support for the flash video media file
type.
Immediacy WCMs 6.1 also includes a new version of SharePoint
Connector. This has been developed to fully support SharePoint
document libraries and to provide the following extra functionality
for intranets and public-facing websites:
- Document libraries and folders can be displayed in
Immediacy-powered sites, and users can view and download documents
from those libraries
- Icons to show file types
- Support for read-only fields
- Users can easily navigate from one folder to another with
SharePoint’s breadcrumb control
- New documents can be imported into SharePoint libraries from
Immediacy-powered sites and existing library documents can be
edited directly by Immediacy users. A user can download a document
from SharePoint, work on changes offline and the upload the edited
version when next connected
- List attachments can be viewed, downloaded, added or
removed
- Like the rest of Immediacy WCMs 6.1, the SharePoint Connector
interface is multilingual ready
