Multi-language content creation in Immediacy

Immediacy CMS can be used to deploy multi-language sites in three ways:

  • Create ad-hoc pages in another language
  • Set up separate and distinct sites for each language
  • Create a single site with alternate language versions for each page

The first approach works when only a proportion of the site needs to be in another language. There may or may not be any correlation with content on other parts of the site. In this case the author can simply type content in the required language.

The second approach is suitable when a whole site needs to be delivered in another language, but the different language sites do not need to be identical. This will likely be the case when the content relates to activities of different branches of an organisation with their own regional activities. This is delivered with simply by setting up a new copy of the site, which can be done in minutes with Immediacy, with templates reflecting the new language where applicable (i.e. when there is text in any of the template images).

The third approach is valid when there must be alternate language content for the majority of pages, or perhaps for every page on the site. This may be needed for regulatory compliance, or when the site will likely be used by a mixed language audience. Immediacy enables multi-language content at page level by using alternate templates and template switching. This technique allows content to be targeted at different platforms, and it also supports alternate language content.
