Meeting your specific needs

Going beyond the mandated elements of e-GIF, our work with public sector customers has helped us to create added value features into our products that make achieving compliance even easier.

Built-in accessibility checking

Public sector organisations are understandably under more scrutiny when it comes to accessibility and regularly reviewed for compliance. Some public sector organisations have been criticised for making claims of compliance levels that they don’t actually achieve. Immediacy believes that this issue arises when compliance is eroded over time through the continual process of content management by non-technical users. Our solution has been to build-in an accessibility checker that identifies, helps fix and educates non-technical users on compliance issues before a site is published. In this way, the selected levels of compliance are achieved continually rather than just when sites are launched.

Developing an auto-classification module

Recognising the increasing burden on public sector organisations in particular in complying with meta data schemes, Immediacy has worked with leading auto-classification developers to create a plug-in module that helps identify keywords within site and document content automatically. This reduces the amount of time developers and content managers have to spend on classifying their content and documents significantly.

Developing new functionality

Amongst public sector organisations, Local Authorities are under particular scrutiny for their performance online. The Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) annual ‘Better Connected’ survey and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) Best Value Performance Indicator (BVPI) initiative, increasingly rate Local Authority sites for levels of interaction and transactional services. Recognising this, Immediacy has developed a number of plug-in function modules that help Local Authorities improve their ratings. These include:-

  • A-Z of services – a user friendly mechanism to manage lists of services
  • Councillor listings – easy-to-use tool for keeping listings useful, accurate and up-to-date
  • FAQ Manager – provides the functions to help compliance with the Freedom Of Information Act
  • Form Builder – a flexible and adaptable capability to provide a range of interactive and transaction orientated forms

As a result of this focus on developing functionality and the long established capabilities of Immediacy as a Content Management System, we are pleased to report that Immediacy Local Authority customers are steadily moving up the SOCITM rankings, with a number achieving the top status, and also improving their BVPI scores.

A leading .NET solution

Immediacy was one of the first UK content management system developers to release a .NET based solution. Our first .NET release achieved an install base of over 50 UK customers within the first six months of its release in May 2005 incorporated over two years' worth of learning from .NET implementations. Analysts and industry commentators are increasingly supporting the move to .NET content management systems as they are up to 5 times faster, considerably more scalable, robust and secure and significantly easier to extend and deploy.

The bottom line is that investing in an Immediacy Content Management System helps public sector organisations create and maintain web sites that:
  • Comply with e-GIF mandates
  • Incorporate e-GMS capability, including IPSV
  • Can achieve and maintain AAA accessibility compliance
  • Are Search Engine friendly
  • Are monitored and analysed for usage via statistic and reporting tools
  • Are easy to use and navigate
  • Have useful, accessible, interactive and transactional features
